Birds on Shirts by Anna

Dear Fashionista,

When did we start saying transitioning? What does it mean? Is it instead of spring or Autumn or does it mean moving into spring or Autumn? You'll excuse me if I don't use it for fear of not understanding when to use it. I'll stick to old fashioned vernacular.

So, this week's collaboration with Mary is the Bird Blouse. What? Is this flappy wings? Batwings gone wild? Is it colours of vibrant reds and turquoise in the plumage of parrots? Well no. In our case it's blouses with birds flying across the material landscape, Birds on Shirts in other words. (or alternatively a  'couple of old birds on a wire.')

My offering is this Joules blouse in mint.  The design is called 'clematis and birds', or something like that,  but sadly it's not in stock now. I did buy it in the sale a few weeks ago so that perhaps shouldn't be so surprising.  Anyway I have found a few similar for you to browse at the bottom of the page.

I chose to wear my birds and floral with my trusty black pleather moto, jeans and ankle boots.

I added a swift necklace in gold to top off the avian effect.

I added a woolen poncho on top as the day was chilly and I was taking this avian outfit on a walk through the woods to the pub.

Having layered up for the walk, I then layered down In the pub.

First to the moto as I awaited my drink.

Then to the blouse. I didn't go any further you'll be pleased to know.

I think I transition Autumn dressed well.  Plenty of layers and mixing of summer shirt with cooler weather layers. It's satisfying eeking every bit of transitional  autumn wear out of summer clothes until we get into Autumn/fall proper.

After one vino we headed home.  Our Sunday treat done and dusted.

Here are some blouses with birds or in mint that I have found online.

Now it's time to pop over to see Mary's plumage here

  1. What an amazing shirt, Anna, so special, and you've styled it beautifully. I love how you've documented your glass of wine right from home, through the bar wait, then the drinking of it. As they say, if it ain't evidenced, it ain't done!
So right about this transitional thing. I only heard of transitional dressing a couple of years ago. We've always phased in and out of seasons, and I guess that is what we will continue to do!
Great post, great collab, thanks again. Hugs and have a great weekend and watch out for the paparazzi! X.

    1. Thank you. The collabs are fun for we too beginners. We're resting for a few weeks as real life gets in the way for a bit.

  4. Love the shirt with the birds, and layering is the way to go this time of year. As indeed it was during the summer we've just had. I guess it'll be "transitioning" all the way soon. xxx

  6. You tell a great story Anna. Very pretty shirt and you've made it edgy with the moto and jeans. Those bird and rose prints really suit you.

  7. Pretty shirt! I love anything with a nature motif. To be honest I don't fully get the fuss over "transitioning"...it sounds like having a sex change! Or should that be "gender reassignment"? Anyway, I think you've dressed for Autumn very well!

    1. Thank you and so glad I'm not alone in thinking the word a bit pretentious for its own good.
