Mustard, My Colour of 2018

How is your Sunday?  As you know I am recovering from a bad back.  I am much more mobile but you can see from the below picture I have certainly had my moments of stiffness

and grimaces

Anyway lets not dwell on my face and move swiftly on.

For 2018 Pantone announced that Ultra Violet would be the colour of the year.  The colour used by designers, manufactures, kitchen wear produces.  We would be wearing it on our backs as coats, we would be buying flower pots of violet to decorate our windowsills and accent our succulents, we would be lying supine  amongst cushions of purple on our sofas.  I would be buying scarves, sweaters and corduroy trousers of violet. Except, I didn't.

What I did buy was mustard.  I actually bought 3 tops in this colour.  This poloneck from Marks and Spencer that I am wearing in the grimace pictures above.  Marks and spencer Polo in Mustard, a Caslon T shirt and a top from Tenerife on vacation, below with another questionable face.  If you look closely you will see I also bought shoes in mustard.  Best look there rather than my face.

Still, my point is that mustard turned out to be a versatile colour.  It can be worn all seasons and with lights and darks as you can see.   Maybe Ultra Violet didn't capture the appeal of we consumers it's not so flexible.

In fact mustard hit the high street in such a way  that Ultra Violet didn't that  this happened!  Yes, me, hubs and our friend, who I have blurred, totally unplanned showing our love of my colour of 2018.

Yes don't we look Team Mustard.

John is not holding our friends hand,, that would be too weird.  I am seated due to my back and John is hold a dog lead.

So where does that leave us with Living Coral? I'd like to see it take off as it's such a pretty colour.  I could do with adding it to my wardrobe but I'm not ready to leave mustard behind quite yet.  I  will continue to wear it as its great for warm colouring like mine.

  1. Yep. Love the mustard! I too didn't jump on the ultra viloet trend and thinking about it, didn't see too much of it about. I'm looking forward to the Coral. I think it will suit both of us xx
