Pret-a-Portea at the Berkeley Hotel

Have you heard of the Pret-a-Portea. It's the afternoon tea at the Berkeley Hotel that is inspired by the catwalk.  Biscuits of handbags too cute to eat, iced dainties of jackets too delicate to chomp.

However I'm not delicate so very prepared to dive in and consume.  I'd paid a tidy sum for this tea so I was darn well going to eat it.

I was with the lovely Gail and Michelle for a chic style blogger meet up. Over the upside down legs of Victoria Beckham (which is not as strange as it sounds, it was a cake) we shared stories of our blogging journey and our offline lives.

Along with discussions of statement boots we talked of retirement, ours, and men underfoot,  the other half's retirement.  This is one reason I do this blogging malarkey. To connect with women of similar age with similar issues as we no longer meet likeminded people at the school gate. I hope you think of me as your equivalent of a school gate friend.

I wore a dress. My goodness this got a lot of reaction on Instagram.  This dress seems to be quite loved so I'll link it below here for you.

The Berkley is a pretty hotel.  Each of us had stopped in the entrance and foyer to take photos. The staff seemed very used to that.

We were attentively served. The food  was just right volume wise (but I am partial to scones and jam and they were missing.)  The bread for the sandwiches was not heavy, which I can't take now at my age. The fillings full of interesting flavours.  A huge choice of teas but we all opted for safe Assam.

The bill came to £97 each or there abouts.  That includes a bottle of Champagne as we decided a bottle was more economic than a glass (as we were bound to have 2).  It also includes service at 12 1/2%.  There were no scones.

My Favourite Thing

Unrelated to the Pret-a-Portea, I am just gorging The Extinction series of books by Paul Antony Jones at the moment. If you like science fiction and a plot driven story then this is for you.
