Muttonstyle Monday Round Up and Link Up

Link up Monday hashtag 2, is here.  Well I  think my first Monday link up got off to a good start, thank you so much for joining.  How has your past week fared? I am thinking of you out in Chicago and surrounds who are suffering such extreme cold.  Maybe Nicole can teach you a thing or two in her post  Layering for Comfort . I found it so interesting to read about the concept of unzipping to let out the sweat so as hypothermia doesn't strike.

I had two days in the office this week before the commute got the best of me.  By Tuesday I was almost in tears with back pain from fighting on overcrowded trains. I was pushed by backpacks, had to step over suitcases in aisles, swing off handrails as there were no seats free and be crushed as I disembarked. I told the office I was going to work at home for 2 days to rest.  Luckily my boss and team agreed and were supportive, and I can tell you my back needs all the support it can get, haha.

I want to create a linkable tile for my link up but haven't the foggiest how to do it.  Any volunteers.  I'd like to be able to give you a badge but technology is another thing that has got the better of me. I have tried.  I took a pic from a library and added a link in word but it won't save as a clickable image.  Noooo, I hear you all scream, that's not how to do it!  Yes, I figured that much out, sad face.

Reading and Listening

I have started The Forever Fierce book club book, Waking up in Winter by Cheryl Richardson.  I am on page 24 so can't give you an insight but its not the sort of book that I would have chosen for myself, but isn't that what bookclubs are about, stretching our experience.

Watching

For UK readers I have discoved a series on ITV called Cleaning Up.  It is quite gripping.  A cleaner starts insider trading in Canary Wharf.  The scenery is so familiar to me as I am often there for work.

Buying

Not an item of clothing have I bought in January.  I did buy IT Cosmetics CC illuminating cream in light and was surprised at how not light it is, more medium to my eye, and how thick a coverage it put on me.  Don't get me wrong, I like it.  I have now ordered the fair for my winter skin.  I have discovered that the IT website itself sells it for £30 and Amazon suppliers for so much more.  There's a tip.

Selling

How about donating?  You know the prom dress that I wore in the post Punk , well now that the dress, that was hanging around unused for 8 years, had it's last hurrah in my post it has now been donated.  Yes, Annabel found a charity that takes prom dresses for girls who can't afford them. I am proud of her donating it.  Of course maybe she wanted to make sure I didn't get into it again and make a fool of myself, haha.

Wearing

For the first 2 days, when I was in the office, I scrubbed up my style and blinged in smart and pearls.  I had presentations to give and felt 'the part' in a jacket.  I read somewhere that a jacket feels like protection. I think it does.

My second jacketed and pearls day included a Boden classic shirt, and one of my colleagues recognised it as Boden. She said 'its because they do quirky shirts' She also said hers have lasted for years.

Then of course working from home Wednesday and I strutted my stuff in a Woolover wool sweater over a breton. I deliberately showed the Breton at the cuff, neck and base.

Thursday saw the coldest night in Britain of this winter and I resorted to a grey pullover in warm that I bought from Sainsburys' two years ago.

Well enough of this rubbish, let's link our blogs below on #MuttonstyleMonday no. 2

  2. Anna, I am so sorry about your back. Back pain is the worst. I spent 7 straight hours cooking yesterday and I am definitely feeling it in my back now. That’s great that you were able to work from home and rest a bit though. I have to check out the Forever Fierce Book Club now. Although I am still working my way through a book I started about 6 months ago!

    1. I was reading your not doing excercise post. Even jealous of you in fitness gear. I just damage myself again even if i look at yoga pants.

  3. Very smart in jacket and pearls. A jacket definitely feels a bit like armour. Amazon is pretty pricey for most beauty purchases. Interesting to read about IT Cosmetics, I have been thinking of giving them a try.

I enjoyed reading about what you are up to. I considered the FF Book Club, but decided on working more on my guitar and music, I need to get in practice after 10 yrs of not being able to play Love the boden jacket. Good that you can rest a bit at home, the cleaning series on Netflix has become very popular now.
